Lucy Lawless is a well-known actor and singer born in New Zealand. Her most well-known work is the roles she took on in a variety of famous television and film shows including Xena Warrior Princess and Spartacus Blood and Sand. She was praised and remembered particularly for her performance as Xena. The role was originally meant to be played by actress Vanessa Angel but ultimately went to Lucy because she was not able to attend the shooting because of illness. With how the character was played and given justice to, it later was one of the top-rated shows in the world of television at the time the show was airing with other shows. In September of 1995, a spinoff was created based on her portrayal of Xena. After the spin-off's release, the series suffered another hit in ratings and cultural significance which made the show last until 6 seasons, boosting Lucy's growing popularity as an actress. Apart from being referred to as Xena to a lot of fans, she's also recognized by her regular roles as Diane Lewis-Swanson in NBC's hit sitcom Parks and Recreation during which she starred from 2012 until 2015.
